“Investing in families living in MHA’s ten affordable housing communities guarantees a brighter future for themselves and their families”, says MHA’s Board Chairman Wilbert Jones. On October 4, 2017 the HUD Jackson Mississippi Field Office informed MHA that its ROSS-SC application qualified to receive competitive funding to assist the agency in accessing tools and resources necessary for residents to gain economic independence.
The purpose of MHA’s ROSS-SC program is to encourage local, innovative strategies that link public housing assistance with public and private resources to allow participating families to increase earned income, reduce or eliminate the need for governmental dependency and make progress towards achieving economic independency and housing self-sufficiency.
The Meridian Housing Authority exists to provide decent safe and affordable housing opportunities for over 3,500 eligible citizens of Meridian. Additionally, MHA currently owns and operates 1,235 affordable housing apartments and administers 212 Housing Choice Vouchers. MHA also provides 10 Veteran Affairs Supportive Housing Vouchers (VASH) to local veterans facing chronic homelessness in the City of Meridian.
