The Meridian Housing Authority’s Administration Building: 2425 E Street Meridian MS, 39301
DETAILS:
MHA’s Strong Family Initiative and Fun Festival Day builds upon HUD’s longstanding Father’s Day efforts to actively involve fathers in the lives of their children.
This year MHA is again expanding its focus to include mothers, children, and the entire family support system. This latest initiative provides an ideal opportunity for families residing in MHA’s nine affordable housing communities to gain exposure to a wide variety of available resources.
Studies show that children reared in safe and nurturing families and neighborhoods free from maltreatment and other adverse childhood experiences are more likely to have more positive outcomes as they reach adulthood. Fathers in the community can provide boys with positive role models and mentors. Their presence indicate factors that benefit families such as lower incarceration rates, higher graduation rates and better employment opportunities.
MHA will also focus on its initiative on health, education and economic empowerment. The event will also feature the distribution of valuable materials from over twelve (12) community partners, three on three basketball shootouts, barbeque grilling contests, dunk tank fun, health and vision checks, live entertainment along with food, fun and fellowship.
