The Meridian Housing Authority’s 2019 Jeanelle Kidd Hope VI Endowment Scholarship luncheon was held Wednesday May 22, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. The agency awarded scholarships to ten (10) promising Meridian High School graduating seniors. Western Garden’s residents Clarionna Gary and Dontrell Powell along with Magnolia Court’s residents Cartavion Naylor and SaFrench Terry received scholarship awards. Additionally, Skiah Pickett and JaTravion Spencer from Sowashee Courts, Rudasja McWilliams and Ja’Quan Jennings from Mt. View; Jonathan Merritt from Highway Village and Darrius Hill from Eastern Gardens also received awards.
SaFrench Terry received the $60,000 Jeanelle Kidd Hope VI Endowment Scholarship award for 2019. WTOK-TV along with Twin States News network highlighted the achievements of the MHA graduates through several of its news broadcasts. Keynote speakers included: James Carter of the Carter Foundation along with Dr. Amy Carter, Superintendent of Meridian Public Schools, and Victor Hubbard, Meridian High School Principal. MHA salutes these graduating seniors on reaching this milestone.
