GEORGE REESE COURTS COMMUNITY HONORS MR. RUSH GORDON
The Meridian Housing Authority’s George Reese Courts community is pleased to announce the
re-dedication of its newest facility in honor of Mr. Rush Gordon
WHAT:
City, state and local officials, including Municipal Court Judge Dustin Markham will join MHA’s Executive Director along with its Board of Commissioners to celebrate the grand “re-opening of the Rush Gordon Multi-Purpose Center. This event marks the dramatic revitalization and transformation of the old “teen center” located in the heart of the community. This historic, $750,000 community transformation project will serve as a full-scale laundromat in addition to providing state of the art meeting and office spaces for George Reese Court families.
WHEN:
Wednesday, September 29, 2021, 11:00a.m.
(The unveiling of the Rush Gordon Multi-Purpose Center sign will take place immediately following the re-dedication program).
WHERE:
GEORGE REESE COURTS Affordable Housing Community located at 1318 19th Street, Meridian, MS.
The ceremony will take place outside under the tent to comply with CDC guidelines.
DETAILS:
Mr. Rush Gordon has and continues to be an outstanding citizen of the George Reese Court community for more than fifty (50) years. He and his wife, the late Ruth Helen Gordon raised their family while nurturing countless other young men through the Boy Scout program in Meridian. Mr. Gordon assisted many young men to become outstanding men in the community and state. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon also provided unwavering community service to the Wesley House Community Center. The members of the George Reese Court Advisory Board voted unanimously to rename the center in Mr. Gordon’s honor.
