Executive Director’s Message – November 2018

I am pleased to announce that Meridian Housing Authority has made tremendous strides in increasing safety measures throughout each of its nine affordable housing community sites. On October 18, 2017 the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awarded MHA with a competitive safety and security grant in the amount of $189,000.00.

Surveillance and security systems were installed and are currently fully operational in the following communities: Highway Village, Western Gardens, Oakland Heights, Eastern Gardens, and Sowashee Courts. Plans are also underway to install surveillance systems at Magnolia Courts, Mountain View Village, Mount Barton and several of the agency’s scattered site locations. Hats off to MHA’s Resident Advisory Board for their valuable input in the strategic planning of this initiative.

I would also like to take this time as we prepare to celebrate this holiday season, to wish MHA Board of Commissioners, MHA Resident Advisory Board Members, MHA Community Partners, MHA Residents and staff the very best of times and family enjoyment. This year has been a year filled with many challenges, but our collaborative partnerships have endured and made MHA a better place for everyone.  As we look forward to moving into next year, let’s stay committed to excellence.  Peace and Joy always.

When you begin to define the character of a community, one of the things you look for is its relation to other housing in the neighborhood…

Does any housing standout or do they blend seamlessly? Is it compatible with the other housing?
