DETAILS:

On January 10, 2012, the Meridian Housing Authority was awarded a $242,500 competitive HUD Choice Neighborhood Planning grant to develope a comprehensive community transformation plan for East Meridian. A community security task force was developed to address the growing safety concerns of the neighborhood. After several community meetings, MHA and MPD partnered to provide community space in the heart of the targeted area.

The sub-station will also be used to conduct neighborhood watch meetings, complete tedious police paperwork in addition to enhancing on-going community policing efforts.

Students from Magnolia Middle School will also be on hand to perform the Pledge of Allegiance, sing the National Anthem and introduce Cheif James Reed. The public is invited.

Special thanks to Patty Gossett the Master Gardeners of East Mississippi for providing the beautiful landscaping for the revitalized facility.
