MERIDIAN HOUSING AUTHORITY RECEIVES HUD ENVISION CENTER DESIGNATION
(Envision Centers will offer HUD assisted families access to support services to achieve self sufficiency)
WHAT:
City, state and local officials including HUD Regional Administrator, Dr. Denise Cleveland-Leggett will join Meridian Mayor, Percy Bland III, along with numerous community stakeholders to celebrate the dedication of the new Meridian Envision Center. Dr. Ben Carson’s national Envision Center initiative focuses on four pillars of opportunities which are: (1) Economic Empowerment (2) Educational Advancement (3) Health and Wellness and (4) Character and Leadership Building.

A community parade featuring the Meridian High Drum-line will kickoff at approximately 8:45am in front of the Frank Berry Court’s manager’s office (weather pending).

DETAILS:
The newly dedicated Meridian Envision Center will offer economic opportunities by providing avenues for low income families to gain immediate access to MHA’s workforce development partners. Participants will be able to take advantage of educational opportunities ranging from obtaining a GED to advancing in graduate degree programs in careers of their own choice. The center will also partner with the Greater Meridian Health Clinic to provide health and wellness resources and services to its residents. Mentoring programs provided by college fraternities and sororities in addition to specified services from the Boys and Girls Club will aide tremendously in developing leadership skills and character building qualities.
