The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has invited the Meridian Housing Authority (MHA) to submit a proposal to institute the “Envision Center Demonstration Program”. This national program will focus on developing families to become self-sufficient through the concept of four foundational pillars: (1) Economic empowerment (2) Educational advancement (3) Health and wellness (4) Character and leadership building.
MHA is positioned to take on this challenge and will submit its proposal prior to the August 31, 2019 deadline date. It is a highly competitive process and only 10 housing authorities throughout the United States have been selected (to-date) to participate in this concept.
I am highly encouraged that all MHA residents will take full advantage of the Family Self-Sufficiency and Resident Opportunity for Self-Sufficiency programs currently being offered. MHA remains committed to providing its residents the greatest opportunity for success and fulfilling their self-sufficiency goals. We have more than 80 families actively involved in the homeownership concept. If selected as an Envision Center site, additional families will realize their goals of achieving a greater degree of self-sufficiency.
