MERIDIAN EAST END CHOICE NEIGHBORHOOD COMMUNITY PRIDE CLEAN-UP DAY APRIL 13TH
WHAT:
The Meridian Housing Authority along with the residents of East Meridian will partner with volunteer organizations throughout the city of Meridian for the 2nd East End Community Pride Clean-Up Day.
This effort will mark the continuation of a commitment made by residents and organizations to restore a strong sense of dignity and pride to the historic “East End”.
Special thanks to the following organizations: N Fusion X; Boys and Girls Club; Lauderdale County Youth Drug Court; Meridian Community College; Multi-County Community Service Agency; Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.
These community partnerships serve to ensure the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) that meaningful collaborative efforts are being sustained to provide affordable, safe and healthy housing opportunities for all residents of the East End Choice Neighborhood.

DETAILS:
On January 10, 2012, the Meridian Housing Authority was awarded a $242,500 competitive HUD Choice Neighborhood Planning grant to develop a comprehensive community transformation plan for East Meridian.
Several community task force committees have been organized to address growing concerns of the targeted neighborhood.
Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity’s youth organization will provide “stepping entertainment” in front of the East End Police Substation located at 1318 19th Street, Meridian, Mississippi.
The George Reese Court Resident Advisory Board will conduct a $100.00 cash give-away, grill hot dogs and provide beverages for all clean-up participants. The public is encouraged to join in this event.
