MERIDIAN HOUSING AUTHORITY TO HOST ITS “STRONG FAMILY INITIATIVE AND FUN FESTIVAL DAY”
“MHA Family Initiative to Empower Fathers, Mothers and Children is set for June 26, 2021”
WHAT:
The Meridian Housing Authority (MHA) is pleased to announce that city, state, and local officials, including Meridian Mayor Percy Bland III, will join MHA and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) along with numerous community stakeholders in support of MHA’s “Strong Families Initiative and Fun Festival Day.” MHA’s Strong Family Initiative supports HUD’s nation-wide outreach effort to encourage the bonding of fathers, mothers, and their children in addition to connecting families to healthy choices, homeownership opportunities and economic development resources.

The “MHA Strong Families Initiative and Fun Festival Day” will kick-off promptly at 9:00am with a one mile fun run and walk.

DETAILS:
MHA’s “Strong Families Initiative and Fun Festival Day “builds upon HUD’s longstanding
“Fatherhood Initiative” event to actively involve fathers in the lives of their children.
This year, MHA is expanding its focus to include mothers, children, and the entire family support system. This latest initiative provides an ideal opportunity for families residing in MHA’s nine affordable housing communities to gain exposure to a wide variety of available resources.
Major emphasis will be placed on addressing COVID-19 vaccine indifference, vaccine hesitancy and vaccine confidence.
This day long festival will also expose MHA residents to educational and economic empowerment opportunities.
We are anticipating up to 300 participants throughout the course of this event.
Festival activities will include: COVID-19 on-site vaccinations administered by the Greater Meridian Health Clinic, health and vision checks, three on three basketball, live entertainment, barbeque grilling contest, dunk tank, along with food, fun fellowship and much more.
